Light Against Dark

Illuminate terrain to push back the shadow. Roll the Darkness Die in the dark, the Light Die in the light, and feel every round shift between dread and triumph.

How to Play

Rylio is a cooperative card game where 1–4 heroes light up a darkening world. Each round, you commit your heroes and allies to phases — push back the dark, survive what answers, and decide between safe coordination and chaotic glory.

Quick Start (5 steps)

  1. 1
    Choose your heroes. 2 fixed in the Core Box (Ranger, Knight). All 4 in Deluxe (adds Shaman and Mage). Pick your Trade — Blacksmith, Healer, Scholar, Ranger, Tactician, or Mystic.
  2. 2
    Set the scene. Place the Quest Card and the first Terrain Card (Dark side up). Read the Quest's setup text aloud.
  3. 3
    Build your hand. Each player takes their 30-card deck plus 2 Starting Allies. Shuffle the deck, draw 6 cards. You may mulligan once.
  4. 4
    Place your tokens. Each hero gets 3 Action Points. Place the Darkness Counter at 0 — or higher if any deck includes Dark-tagged cards (+1 per Dark card included).
  5. 5
    Begin the first round. Five phases: Resource → Planning → Light → Shadow → Refresh. Push back the dark before the dark consumes the world.

Goal: Complete the Quest's win conditions before Darkness reaches 20 or all heroes Fall. Earn experience, evolve your deck, and continue the campaign.
